Compassion Ministries
One of The River's dreams is to serve communities in New York and around the world to promote justice, reconciliation and understanding in new, inspiring ways. We hope to play a part in reducing poverty, oppression and suffering, and believe that in reaching out to others, we experience more of God. When people across class, race, and ethnic lines come together to serve as Jesus did, the Spirit of God tends to show up, and we experience fuller life. We hope to make these kinds of encounters a frequent experience in our community.
More Purpose through Service
Jesus told us that by serving others, we experience more fullness of life. Join Christine Garde for an introduction to a different approach to service to the poor. Find out how your serving can become more relational and life empowering.

Bailey House
Bailey House is a community home founded to serve people with HIV/AIDS. Every third Sunday after the worship service, volunteers from The River go to Bailey House to cook and serve a meal for about 30 residents and staff. After cooking, volunteers enjoy eating dinner together and getting to know the residents of the house.
